Ostenil Plusis a product based onsodium hyaluronateobtained by fermentation 2’0%. It is aviscoelastic solutionthat is applied byinjection into the joint cavity.
It contains 2 ml of isotonic solution (pH 7’3), 40 mg of sodium hyaluronate, sodium chloride, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, mannitol and water for injections.
This product isrecommended for the treatment of pain, as well as mobility limitation, in traumatic degenerative changes of the knee joint, especially, but also, of other synovial joints.
Differences with Ostenil
Ostenil Plus, unlike the product Ostenil (plain), is a sterile and isotonic solutionbased on more concentrated hyaluronic acid. In addition, they also differ in their mannitol content, a molecule that increases the duration of the product thanks to its ability to stabilize hyaluronic acid.
Contraindications
Ostenil Plus should not be applied in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Side effects
In the joint where the treatment is applied, local secondary phenomena may occur, such as a feeling of heat, inflammation and redness or pain. To relieve these symptoms, simply apply an ice pack to the area for five to ten minutes.
Usage advice
The product shouldbe applied by injection into the affected joint once a week, for a totalof 1 to 3 weeks. In addition, several joints can be treated at the same time.
If a joint effusion occurs, it can be reduced by aspiration, rest and the application of an ice pack and/or intra-articular injection of corticosteroids. Treatment can be resumed two to three days later.
Precautions to consider
In case of treating patients with hypersensitivity to some medications, proceed with caution.
Injections into blood vessels or surrounding tissues should be avoided; Ostenil Plus should be applied intra-articularly.
If the sterile packaging or prefilled syringe appears damaged, avoid use. Likewise, any solution not used immediately must be discarded, as its stability cannot be guaranteed in any way.
Use of the product after the expiration date indicated on the box is not recommended.
