Abbot FreeSyle libre 2 reader glucose monitoring system
The FreeStyle Libre sensor is applied to the back of the arm with a disposable device called an applicator. When the sensor is applied, a sterilized, thin, and flexible filament is inserted just under the skin. It stays in place with a small adhesive pad.
SCAN THE SENSOR
Get a glucose reading with a one-second scan of the reader over the sensor. The FreeStyle Libre system also has software that generates concise reports to help analyze glucose data.
READING
Each time you take a sensor reading, you get the current glucose reading, the last 8 hours of your glucose history, and a trend arrow showing whether glucose is rising, falling, or changing slowly. The reader can take readings through clothing*.
*The reader can capture sensor data when it is positioned between 1 cm and 4 cm from the sensor
The FreeStyle Libre 2 reader stores glucose values for up to 90 days*.
* To get a complete picture of glucose over the last 3 months, the sensor must be replaced every 14 days and scanned at least once every 8 hours.
