Lacrigel Ophthalmic Gel
Description
Lacrigel is a medicine used to treat dry eyes. This ophthalmic gel contains 0.2 g of carbomer per 100 g of gel, with excipients such as cetrimide, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, and water for injectable preparations.
Lacrigel temporarily moistens and lubricates the surface of the eye to combat dryness. It can be considered artificial tears in gel form.
Lacrigel can be used in adults and children and is available without a prescription.
Directions for Use
The dosage for treating dry eyes is individual and depends on your discomfort. However, it is recommended to use Lacrigel 3 to 4 times a day.
Before applying Lacrigel, wash your hands. Tilt your head slightly back and look up. Pull down the lower eyelid and apply one drop of Lacrigel into the eye. Close your eye and move it to distribute the ophthalmic gel.
Close the Lacrigel tube tightly after use: it can be kept for one month after opening.
Properties
The excipients of this medicine for dry eyes are: cetrimide, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, and water for injectable preparations. If you are allergic to any of them or to carbomer, you should not use Lacrigel.
You may experience temporary blurred vision right after application. Wait until the discomfort disappears before driving a vehicle or operating machinery.
Lacrigel can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Allow a 15-minute interval between the application of several eye drops, always finishing with Lacrigel.
Lacrigel is supplied in a 10 g tube.
